License Plate Sticker Renewals
Skip the DMV and renew your license plate stickers at the library! Illinois residents can visit the Info Desk and leave with their new sticker the same day.
You will need your Registration ID and PIN numbers, or your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), and your license plate number. A standard renewal sticker costs $151 plus an additional $9.50 processing fee that may be paid with a debit or credit card only. We cannot accept cash or checks.
The Lansing Public Library offers license plate sticker renewals through a third-party vendor. Because this is not a full Illinois Secretary of State (DMV) service, some transactions cannot be completed at the library.
The library cannot process:
- Renewals for vehicles that require an emissions test before renewal.
- Transactions involving suspended driver's licenses or vehicle registrations.
- Renewals that cannot be located or processed through the third-party vendor's system.
Refunds and Replacements
- The library cannot issue refunds or replace license plate stickers once payment has been made.
- Refund and replacement requests must be made directly through the Illinois Secretary of State online or at a DMV facility.
Benefit Access Program
Eligible seniors may qualify for reduced license plate renewal fees through the Illinois Benefit Access Program. The library cannot assist with Benefit Access Program applications. For application assistance, please contact Thornton Township Senior Services.
Village Vehicle Stickers
Village of Lansing vehicle windshield stickers are issued by the Village of Lansing and are separate from Illinois license plate renewal stickers..
