By following the instructions below, I am authorizing Lansing Public Library to send notices to me via email or SMS text instead of regular mail or by phone, including notices about items I have requested, reminders about items due soon and items that are overdue. I understand that if notices cannot be delivered to the email address I have provided, the library will send notices by their usual method. Q. Why is the library offering email and SMS text notification?
A. Email and SMS text notification of overdue items will reduce the library's postage expenses for those who have been receiving notices in the U.S. Mail.
Q. Can I receive my notices by email, SMS text and also by phone or U.S. Mail?
A. No. You must choose one option.
Q. My email has a spam blocker. Will that interfere with my receiving notices from the library?
A. Adjust your spam or junk mail settings so that email from firstname.lastname@example.org is sent to your inbox.
Q. What if my email address changes?
A. Once you have signed up to receive email notices using the form on this page, you can change the email address to which notices are sent by repeating the steps above to send a new message, or notify Circulation staff on your next visit.
Q. Can all the members of my family receive their notices at the same email address or cell number?
A. Yes, but privacy may be a concern. If family members share one email address, then all persons with access to that mailbox will be able to view notices sent to that email address.
Q. Will my email address or SMS text number be sold to mailing lists?
A. No! We will not sell, share or transmit your email address or SMS text number to mailing lists or any other companies. The email address you provide Lansing Public Library will only by used by authorized Lansing Public Library staff to contact you.
