Your PIN is 4 digits.

If unsure please call the library and have your library card barcode available.


Is there a fee to download eBooks from eRead Illinois ?

A valid Lansing Library card is required. Lansing residents may download eBooks for free. The library subscribes on your behalf.
Note: Our contract with eRead Illinois does not allow us to grant access to residents of other towns. Please check with your local library to see if they have access.

What is the loan period for eBooks ?

Downloaded eBooks are available for 14 days.

It is possible to return an eBook early.


May I return a title early ?

Yes, in Adobe Digital Editions, there is an option to return item. Deleting the item from your device or out of Adobe Digital Editions will not return item.


Are there limits to how much I may check out?

Only 3 downloaded items may be checked out at one time. During the process, you will see prompts reminding you of your current total.


What are the fines for overdue materials?

Downloaded items automatically 'return' themselves on the due date. You never have to worry about fines on downloaded materials.


May I renew materials ?

No, but you may check it out again.


I want material someone else has checked out...What do I do?

eBooks which are checked out to another patron may be reserved for you, through the eRead Illinois website. If a title is already checked out, you will see an option to place a hold. You will receive an email when the item is ready for download. Staff cannot place items on hold for you.


Do I have to visit the library to download eBooks ?

No, you don't! (Although we love to see your smiling faces!)

Please visit us if you need help navigating the eRead Illinois site, or visit their built-in help sections, or the special information for Once you know what to do, you can download items from eRead Illinois anywhere you can access the Internet, or if your device is wi-fi capable, any wi-fi hotspot.

You can download additional books on vacation, or wherever you go!
